Kathleen Ruth Salwey, known as Kathy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at the age of 80.
Kathy was born on February 20, 1945, to Eleanor and Andrew Schindele and grew up surrounded by a large and lively family. She was one of fifteen children. Her life was further enriched by the joy of her marriage to the late Bendict “Ben” Salwey, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love.
Over the years, Kathy was a member of The Ladies Petroleum Club and the Parkway Gals Homemakers Club. She thoroughly loved her job working with her clients and coworkers for twenty-five plus years at Opportunity Foundation, Inc. in Williston. Kathy had many personal hobbies and interests. She was a master of Scrabble and crosswords as well as playing games on her iPad. She loved crafting and cooking that she shared with family and friends. Her trips to the casino were filled with excitement as she cherished both the thrill of the game and the company of her friends.
Kathy's legacy is carried on through her devoted children, Benae Ellis (Stephen, deceased) Todd Salwey (Kari), and Cari Orr (Michael). Grandchildren, Kristoffer Olson, Jordan Olson, Autumn Ellis, Berlyn Salwey, Londyn Salwey and Connor Orr. She was always extremely proud and a source of love for her grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Florence Frederick, Frances Breslin, Mary Turner, Beth Roen, Andrew Schindele and Arthur Schindele. Kathy was predeceased by her beloved parents, her cherished spouse, Bendict, her dear son, Steven, and her brothers, Patrick, Thomas, Gustav, John, Charles, Richard, James, and Michael Schindele.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 12:00pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Williston, ND. A prayer service and visitation with the family will take place the evening prior, Friday, April 25, 2025, at 6:00pm, at the church. Burial will take place following services Saturday at Riverview Cemetery.
