Juel Halstenson, 70, West Fargo, ND died on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Sanford Health on Broadway in Fargo, ND.
Juel Allan Halstenson was born July 30, 1949 at Grand Forks, ND to Earl and Arabelle (Haddow) Halstenson. He grew up on a farm near Niagara, ND and graduated from Petersburg (ND) High School. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science where he learned the art of machining and welding. Juel lived in Grand Forks, Wahpeton and West Fargo. The majority of his work career was with Larsen Welding in Fargo where he worked as a machinist. He married Vickie Nelles in 1981. She had two daughters which they raised. Vickie passed away in 2011. He later married Margie Tooley McClellan in April of 2016.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and the regular trips back to the family farm at Niagara. He was especially proud of his 30 plus years of teaching hunter safety classes for youth.
Juel is survived by his wife, Margie; step children, Heidi (Tony) Ladwig, Florida, Holly Groothuis, California, step grandchildren, Shelby and Derek (fiancé, Melanie) Ladwig; three step great grandchildren, Aiden, Sophia and Koda; brothers, Jack (Gloria) Halstenson and Rodney Halstenson; sister, Barbara (Rick) Gannarelli; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Margie’s family two sons, Perry (Connie), West Fargo and John (Corinna) of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Lauren and Julia McClellan.
Juel was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vickie; sister, Ruth Barry.
Visitation: Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo
Funeral: Friday at 3 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior. (The family and church ask that everyone coming please wear a mask and practice social distancing)
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
