Judy Erickson was born July 29th 1944 in Stanley North Dakota to Alvin and Arlene Holter. She passed away on June27th, 2026 in Apache Junction AZ. With her family at her bedside.
She grew up in Stanley through the 8th grade and then the family moved to Bottineau ND where she attended High School through the 11th grade. Her family then moved to Grand Forks ND where she graduated from High School in 1962. It was in Grand Forks where she would meet her future husband, Elroy Erickson, at high school. Judy married Elroy in March of 1964 after he had joined the Army. Judy and Elroy were in the Army together you could say and they lived in Army bases across the country.
Judy was invited to church by an old friend, Bonnie Monson, from Bottineau when Elroy was stationed in Minot ND. She and Elroy went to the church, Our Redeemers, and it would end up changing their lives as they would turn them over to Jesus Christ. Elroy would leave the Army a few years later to become a pastor and Judy a pastors wife. She would lead bible studies and prayer groups for the rest of her life.
Judy also started working in the health field to help supplement the family finances on a pastors salary. She would graduate from Mt. Hood Community college with an associates degree in nursing and spent many years working with doctors for Kaiser Permanente in Washington State. Judy also loved time with her family and playing card game like pinochle and hand and foot just to name a few.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband Elroy, her parents, her daughter Shanna and grandson Nolan. She is survived by her son Sean (Ruth) of West Fargo ND, daughter Sonja (Brent) Johnson of White Salmon WA, daughter Suzanne (Dan) Dubisar of Superior AZ, 9 grand children and 4 great grand children. Also survived by brother Jim Holter of Grand Forks ND, brother Jon Holter of Grand Forks ND, sister Julaine Boyer of Toledo Ohio, sister Joann Steele of Rochester MN, sister Janell Holter of Mesa AZ and aunt Margie Howell of Laurel, MT.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, July 17th at West Funeral Home, 321 Sheyenne St., West Fargo, ND. Family visitation at 8:30 am and service at 9:30. Burial at 11 am at the Fargo National Cemetery near Harwood, ND. There will also be a memorial service in November at Calvary Free Lutheran Church of Mesa AZ with more details in the future for that service.
