Joyce N. Abatte

Joyce Abatte, 92, West Fargo, ND died on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Fargo, ND.

Joyce Norma Bissett was born Feb. 24, 1928 at Erie, ND to John and Minnie (Stroeh) Bissett. She attended country school in Empire Township near Amenia, ND and graduated from Erie High School. Joyce continued her schooling at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She married Matthew Abatte on Oct. 31, 1953 in Erie. They lived in Fargo, Florida and Minneapolis before settling in Las Vegas, Nevada where they lived for over 50 years. Joyce worked in clerical and accounting positions in TV, Radio and advertising. Matthew passed away in 1998. She returned to North Dakota in 2017 and entered the Good Samaritan Center in January of 2020.

She loved casinos and playing Keno. She also enjoyed playing the organ, bowling and traveling.

Joyce is survived by two step sons, Charles (Mary) Abatte and William (Betty) Abatte, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews and a good friend, Kathleen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Matt; sister, Marjorie (Robert) Conrad; brother, James (JoAnn) Bissett; and an infant brother, Allen.

Service: Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at 2 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, ND with visitation one hour prior. Masks are requested to be worn.

Burial: Erie Cemetery.
