Joshua Young

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Joshua Young, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, who departed this world on June 15, 2026, at the age of 44. Born on October 16, 1981, in Casper, Wyoming, Joshua's life was a testament to service, love, and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him.

Joshua was the beloved son of Annie Young Rossiter and the late Michael Young. A devoted father, he is survived by his two children, Joey, who is 17, and Maverick, aged 4, who were the lights of his life. In addition to his mother and children, Joshua leaves behind his siblings, Michael Holzinger, and Jamie Guertin, along with her husband, Jeff Guertin; also two stepsisters Andrea LaVine (Casey), and Sarah Dahler. He was predeceased by his father, Michael Young, whom he spoke of with great admiration and love.

A proud patriot, Joshua served in the United States Army from 2002 until 2021. Rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, he was a combat infantry man who participated in numerous overseas campaigns, including the Bosnia Conflict, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. His courage and dedication earned him multiple commendations, reflecting his unwavering commitment to his country and his comrades.

Following his honorable military service, Joshua embarked on a career as a millwright, where he worked for 15 years. His colleagues remember him as a skilled professional with an insatiable curiosity and a passion for learning that he carried throughout his life.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Joshua was a man of many interests. His first being a deep love for his children, always seeking to spend quality time with them. A lifetime learner, he relished the opportunity to expand his knowledge on a myriad of subjects. Joshua was known for his love of working on cars, his culinary experiments with ramen, and his dedication to fitness. His quick wit and dry sense of humor were legendary among friends and family, as was his protective nature, ensuring the well-being of those he held dear.

Joshua's affection for Marvel and DC characters was a testament to his appreciation for heroes, both fictional and real. His intelligence and humor made him a beloved figure to those around him, and his love for animals revealed his compassionate heart.

A service to honor Joshua's life will be held on June 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Fargo National Cemetery, located at 8709 40th Ave North County Road 20, Harwood, ND 58042. Family, friends, and all whose lives Joshua touched are invited to celebrate his life and bid farewell to a remarkable man who gave so much to those he loved.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Tony Baker for his unwavering guidance and support over the years, a testament to the enduring friendships Joshua cherished.

As we mourn the loss of Joshua Young, we also celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, bravery, and an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
