In Loving Memory of Joseph Ceasar Loliya
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Ceasar Loliya, who left us on March 15, 2026, at Essentia Health Fargo in North Dakota, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph’s sudden departure has brought profound pain and heartache to all who knew him, as he was truly a remarkable man.
Joseph Ceasar Loliya was born on September 9, 1972, to Caesar Loliya Joseph Lamana from Eastern Equatoria State, Torit County, Kyala Payam, Elloli bomb, and Rose Gitano Baballa Rihan from Central Equatoria State, Laniya County, Wande Client. He was part of a large family, with three brothers and six sisters, though he faced the sorrow of losing all his brothers and three sisters, he remained strong and firm in the family.
Joseph began his education at Buluk Primary School and Joint Lawa Secondary School. After the passing of his father, he ventured into petty trade to support his family and education. He later moved to Khartoum, Sudan, to complete his secondary education, where he earned his Sudan School Certificate. His journey then took him to Egypt, where he pursued higher education at Cairo University in Giza, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1994.
In 1996, Joseph married Lucia in Egypt, and together they built a life filled with love and resilience. He worked as a representative for a company before finding his passion at a computer center in Maadi, where he taught others about technology from 2001 to 2003.
In 2005, Joseph migrated to the United States with Lucia and their two children, Emma and Eric, in search of a better life. He began working at Phoenix International (now John Deere) in 2006, where he dedicated 20 years of service. Joseph had a deep love for movies and music, which led him to open Green Land Studio and Music Entertainment. Through this studio, he served his community by videotaping special occasions such as graduations, weddings, and birthdays, and he also enjoyed DJing.
Joseph was an active member of the Equatoria Sudanese Community Association in North Dakota (ESCA-ND), where he served as president, fostering a sense of community and support among his peers. He continued his education, earning an Associate’s degree in Information Technology in 2015. Additionally, he contributed to his local church by driving the bus for worship groups and assisting with technical and computer issues.
Known for his peaceful, kind, and compassionate nature, Joseph touched the hearts of everyone he encountered. Despite the challenges he faced in life, he remained a loving father not only to his two children but to all who knew him. His unwavering love and generosity inspired those around him, and he was a true friend to anyone who crossed his path, leaving a lasting mark on their lives.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Lucia Kirba, and their two children, Emma Loliya and Eric Loliya. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his spirit will forever live on in the cherished memories we hold dear.
Joseph’s family extends heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your kindness, love, and support during this difficult time. We ask that you continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this painful journey. Joseph’s body will be returned to South Sudan, his country of origin, to be laid to rest in Torit.
