John Raymond Miller, 76, of Fargo, ND, formerly Buffalo, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 7, 2021, at Lund Home Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, AZ.
John was born on January 12, 1945 in Fargo, the son of Raymond H. and Helen (Peterson) Miller. He grew up on the family farm located northwest of Buffalo, ND. He began farming with his brother, Alan, at the age of 20 following the death of his father. John graduated from Page High School and attended North Dakota State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Economics. On November 23, 1979, John married Linda Freund.
John was a devoted lifelong member of the Page United Methodist Church until its closing and then active with the Flame of Faith United Methodist Church in West Fargo, ND as well as the Song of Life United Methodist Church in Queen Creek, AZ.
John was a member of many local and state organizations throughout his life. He also served as the Chairman of Cornell Township for multiple years.
John and Linda spend winters in AZ where they enjoy going on trail rides, hosting NDSU Bison football watch parties, socializing with friends, and reading. One of John’s greatest enjoyments was his role as “Grandpa” to his grandchildren Robbie and Evie.
John is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Danielle (Shawn) Harmon, Kyla (Robert) Browning, his son Michael (Sarah) Miller, and grandchildren Robert and Evelyn Browning.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Helen, his step-mother, Esther, and his brother Alan Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in John’s honor to Great Plains Food Bank or to the Dr. James Carlson Library Branch of the Fargo Public Library.
