John Gehrke

John Joseph Gehrke, 61, of Casselton, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND, after a short illness.  

He was born on April 9, 1960, to John and Janice (Pechacek) Gehrke at St Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, MN.  He grew up in the West Fargo, ND, area graduating from West Fargo High School in 1978.  On March 21, 1980, he was united in marriage to Marcia Anderson.  They had two children: Jessica and David.

John has enjoyed a life of trucking through most of the states.  His favorite load to haul was bees.  As an owner/operator of his own rig, he was currently contracting with National Service Transport.  He had previous ties to GMR and EW Wylie.  

John’s favorite pastimes are mud runs and ATVing with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.  His dream was to own a cabin in the mountains and retire there.  He will always be remembered for his big booming voice and his loud contagious laugh.  Once you became a friend of John’s, you were his brother for life.

He leaves his children, daughter, Jessica Samuels with her husband Travis and their children, Karle, Maddie and Travis John (TJ); his son David Gehrke with his wife Nikki and their children, Paige, Shelby, Graci and Jace; and his ex-wife Marcia Anderson along with her son, Robbie Lubitz, whom he loved like his own son. 

He is also survived by his siblings Michelle (Theresa) Gehrke-Herwynen, Wanda (Mark) Wilcox, Joel (Tami) Gehrke and Renata (Greg) Rogalla.  He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister, Yvette Gehrke.  

Celebration of  Life Service:    10:30 am Friday, August 12, 2022 at West Funeral Home, West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with Visitation held one hour prior to his service.

Interment:   Holy Cross Cemetery - North, Fargo, ND
