Jerry Richey

Jerry was born on September 11, 1957, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Charles “Chuck” Eugene Richey and Pernecia “Ann” Emmons. He was baptized on April 13, 1958.

He grew up in Hunter, North Dakota, and later made his home in Fargo. To many of his friends, he was simply known as “Richey.”

Jerry graduated from Dakota High School in Arthur, North Dakota, in 1976, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He continued his education at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, studying diesel mechanics.

Throughout his life, Jerry worked in a variety of fields. He was employed by GTA elevators with his father and several construction companies, where he helped build and remodel homes, including decks and repairs. For a time, he worked at Classic Roasters in Fargo and also sold Combined Insurance.

Jerry was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for automobiles and fast cars, and he loved time spent at the lakes. Above all, his grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he was immensely proud of them.

Jerry is survived by his son, Chad (Amanda) Berndt of Fargo; daughter, Dana Murray of Fargo; sister, Valerie (Jim) Geringer of Harwood; stepsister, Patsy (David) Madsen of Hunter; and stepsister-in-law, Barb Grant of Fargo. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Harper, Avery, and Dalton; nephews, Jeremy (Jami) Stopa of West Fargo and James Hanson of Williston; niece, Christina (Chuck) Graham of Fargo; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck Richey and Ann Grant; stepmother, Lucille Richey; stepfather, Kenneth Grant; stepbrother, Donald Grant; nephew, Jamie Madsen; and grandparents, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2 PM, at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour before the service.
