Jerold A. Roth, age 79, passed away at his home in Duluth, Minnesota. He was born in Elgin, North Dakota, to Arnold and Ida (Evenrud) Roth on May 8, 1946.
Jerry spent his 1st years in Mott, North Dakota, before his parents moved to Grafton, ND, where his dad started Roths Heating Service. Jerry spent all his formative years, grades 1 though 12, at Grafton Central School. Jerry then attended Wahpeton School of Science and later went to the Brown Institute in Minneapolis for Electronics Technology Training. After graduation, Jerry went to work for the Bell Telephone Company, and he was drafted in 1966. Jerry went into the U.S. Marine Corps. After basic training, he spent a tour of duty in the country of Vietnam. When he was discharged, he returned to work for the Bell system and its many name changes. Retiring from the phone company, Jerry moved into his mother’s home in Duluth, MN, after her death.
Jerry had many hobbies, including fishing, swimming, book collecting, classic cars, motorcycles, a hobby farm in Wisconsin near Lake Superior, where he planted many kinds of trees, most of them fruit or nut seeding-bearing. He also built a wooden sailboat with the help of an old boat builder from Germany, said to have worked on Hitler’s crafts.
Jerry is survived by his brother, James and Annette Roth; nephews, Jon Roth, Tony and Patty Roth; nieces, Lillian, Olivea and Evelyn Roth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Ida Roth.

Celebration of Life Service: Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11 AM, West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND, with visitation one hour before the service.
