Jeff Voorhees, 62, Dent, MN died on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Jeff was born Aug. 27, 1958 in Madrid, Spain to Carrol and Donna (Pierce) Voorhees. He grew up in the Duluth and Bemidji, MN areas graduating from high school in Bemidji in 1976. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Moorhead State University and Master’s degree from the University of Mary. Jeff married Claudia on June 22, 1984. “36 wonderful, blissful years – God I love that woman”
They lived at Harwood, ND until moving to West McDonald Lake in March of 2019, where they built their retirement home. Jeff worked most of his years as a project manager for Great Plains Software, Microsoft, CoreLink, Interactive Intelligence, MCA Connect and currently with Dakota Supply Group. Masterminds had been a constant in his life for many years. Saturday morning coffee with the group was the way he loved to start his weekends.
Jeff loved to travel whether it was for work or personal, probably the most memorable trips for him was the trip to Germany with his 3 grandsons, China with Taylor, New York City with Jennifer over father’s day (really Jennifer’s 40th) but we let Dad have the glory of father’s day. Another great adventure was a Caribbean cruise with friends.
Gus (the Large Munsterlander) and Rollie (the yellow lab) along with Tinkerbell & Snowball had a very special place in his heart.
Jeff also had a huge love for hockey. Fighting Sioux & Minnesota Wild were his teams of choice but his FAVORITE hockey players were Taylor and Cayden along with the kids he coached through the years.
Accomplishments that Jeff was very proud of was finishing 4 marathons, area triathlons, and half marathons. With a dream of running one more.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Claudia; daughter, Jennifer (Mark Jacobson) Voorhees; three grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Cayden Thompson and Izaac Jacobson; mother, Donna Voorhees; three brothers, Wayne (Lynn), Delmar (Roxanne) and Brad (Teresa); several nephews, a niece and many special friends
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Cats Cradle, the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice.
“Eventually all the things fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moments, and know everything happens for a reason”
