Jeanne Hersch

Jeanne Hersch, 84, Casselton, N.D., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Sanford Health – Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Jeanne Harriet Burley was born December 7, 1938, at Fargo, ND, the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Pierson) Burley.  She grew up on the family farm near Gardner, ND, and attended school at Gardner.  Following graduation, Jeanne attended Dakota Business College in Fargo.  

On October 5, 1957, Jeanne was united in marriage to Lambert Hersch at Casselton.  They had met at a summer barn dance near Arthur and had started dating right away.   They lived and farmed near Arthur, ND, and then moved to Fargo in the early 1960’s.   In 1968, they moved to Casselton and bought Club 94, which they operated for 32 years.   Lambert Hersch died March 17, 2004, and Jeanne continued to work part-time at Club 94.  

She is remembered by her family as being hard-working and that she was a “sports nut”.  Jeanne had played basketball while in high school with her teams going to State twice.   She and Lambert were big MN Twins and Vikings fans. 

Jeanne is survived by two daughters, Wanda (Craig) Runck, West Fargo, ND, Brenda Hocking, Casselton, ND; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and her brother Wayne Burley, Gardner, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lambert, her son-in-law Craig Hocking, and her sister Joanne Nolte.

Funeral Service:   Monday, November 13, 2023, at 6 pm in West Funeral Home, Casselton, ND, with Visitation held one hour prior.

Burial: St. Leo’s Cemetery, Casselton.
