Jeanette Gust, 93, of West Fargo, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Bethany on University in Fargo.
Jeanette Ann Heinz was born on July 25, 1931, in Alice, ND, to Sylvester and Angeline (Wellentin) Heinz. She grew up and attended local schools there.
On April 4, 1951, she married Orvin Glenn Gust. After Orvin’s service in the Korean War, they farmed from 1953-1955. In 1956, they bought a souvenir shop, “The Wigwam,” in Lake George, MN. In 1959, they built a home in West Fargo. In 1969, they opened G & G Camper Sales in West Fargo. They sold the business in 1975, and in 1980, they opened Sheyenne Liquor Mart in West Fargo. All the while during these years, Jeanette excelled at being homemaker and mother, her number one priority. They sold the business in 1990 and retired, spending summers at their family lake home on Lake Sally.
Jeanette was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Fargo for 65 years and was a lifetime member of the West Fargo VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She loved music, which included playing the piano and singing, and sewing, crocheting, and gardening.
Jeanette is survived by two daughters, Stacy (Michael) Goos, and Heidi (Jeff) Gustafson; four grandchildren, Marisa (Cody) Torbenson, Megan Biggerstaff, Makenzy Goos, and Matthew Goos; two siblings, Donald Heinz and Beverly Marotzke; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin; 4 siblings, Reinhold (Bud) Heinz, Arlene Lay, LeRoy Heinz, and Bradley Heinz; and several siblings-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to hospice.
Visitation: Monday, January 13, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., in West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
Funeral Service: Monday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m., in West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
Interment: Alice Community Cemetery, Alice, ND.
