Jean Marie Johnson, born in Fargo, North Dakota, on July 11, 1948, peacefully departed from this world on January 9, 2024. She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth, kindness, and love touched the lives of all who knew her.
Jean began her journey in Colfax, North Dakota, where she spent her childhood surrounded by the beauty of the prairies. On June 21, 1968, she married the love of her life, Jerry Johnson, and they made their first home in Leonard, North Dakota and then moved to West Fargo, North Dakota. Together, they had two children, Tanya and Diana.
Jean's greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and the many adopted children that passed through her home. She poured her heart into nurturing and guiding them, instilling in them the values of love, compassion, and resilience. Her love knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself to creating a home filled with warmth and laughter. She was a substitute mom and grandma to many. Jean was always there when needed. Always. At a moment's notice.
As a grandmother, Jean found immense joy in the company of her five grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Later in life, she welcomed the newest addition to the family, Aria Martinez, and proudly embraced the role of great-grandmother.
Jean was known for her gentle spirit, unwavering support, and the genuine interest she took in the lives of those around her. Her home was a haven of love, and her legacy will endure through the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry D. Johnson; and parents, Clarence and Betty Hulne; nephew and Godson, Scott Aaron Stapleton.
Survived by daughters, Tanya (Eladio) Martinez, her children, Wesley Gad, Jordan Martinez, Madeline Martinez, great granddaughter Aria Martinez; Diana (Jeff) Walker and her children, Lacole May and Larissa May. Siblings Michael Hulne, David (Linda Hulne, Jack (Dawn) Hulne, Dorothy (Sean) Stapleton and Gregory Hulne.
In remembrance of Jean's vibrant and loving spirit, a Celebration of Life will be held at West Funeral Home. All friends and family are invited to join in celebrating the life of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul find eternal peace and may the memories of her love and laughter continue to bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
