Janice (Vliem) Hanson

Janice Hanson, 73, West Fargo, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at her home.

Janice Faye Vliem was born February 21, 1953 at Belgrade, MN to Arthur and Ethel (Brink) Vliem. She grew up on the family farm near Westport, MN. She graduated from Villard (MN) High School.

Janice married Gordon Hanson on May 12, 1973. They lived in Dawson, MN before settling in West Fargo in 1981. They had two sons, Darian and Brian. She worked at John Deere International in assembly until retiring at the age of 65. Gordon passed away in 2011.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play. She also enjoyed playing cards and fishing with her husband and at her son Darian’s lake place.

Janice leaves behind two sons, Darian (Karrie) and Brian (Alisha); four grandchildren, Cameron, Carson, Olivia and Mason; siblings, Myra Foner, Nancy (Herman) Grussing, Ronald (Karen) Vliem, Robert (Paulette) Vliem, Norris Vliem and Arlan Vliem; sisters-in-law, Barbara Vliem and Donna Vliem; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Arthur and Ethel Vliem; siblings, Donald, Dale and Gary; and brother-in-law, Richard Foner. 

Visitation: Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 5 to 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Funeral: Friday, April 3 at 1:00 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery – North, Fargo.
