Janice Marie Diemert (Schneekloth), 88, Fargo, ND, formerly of Buffalo, ND, died on Monday, November 3, 2025, surrounded by family at Eventide Fargo.
Born on December 19, 1936, in Valley City, ND, Janice was the eldest of three daughters of Agnes (Yanish) and Ernest Schneekloth. They lived on a farm east of Tower City, ND. She was valedictorian at Tower City High School and a graduate of Valley City State College. After one year of elementary school teaching in Grand Forks, ND, she married Raymond Diemert on June 8, 1957, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Buffalo, ND. Together, they built a home wherein God was loved and honored as they raised their five children. Janice moved to Riverview Place in Fargo, ND, in 2022, and lived the last three months of her life at Eventide Fargo.
Janice was a member of Catholic Ladies Aide and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed oil painting classes and sewing beautiful clothing for her young family. She taught piano lessons in her home for over 40 years. Her summertime passion was creating vibrant flower and vegetable gardens. Her zest for word search puzzles, writing class, and reading books continued into her final years.
Janice is survived by her children; Paula (John) Wright, Anthony Diemert, Lisa Sluke, Christine (Frederic) Daggett, John Diemert; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren, and her sisters; Judith Alm Stecklein and Barbara Opoien.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Marcel Sluke, and a granddaughter, Laura Wright Bergen.
Janice will be dearly missed by her family and friends, yet we trust her life will bear fruit far beyond the boundaries of her chronology.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Buffalo, ND. A reception will follow immediately at Buffalo Community Center. Interment will be at Buffalo Cemetery, 1/2-mile east of Buffalo.
