Jane Wiedewitsch Obituary

   Jane Wiedewitsch, 77, of Fargo, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Eventide Fargo.

   Jane Ellen Wiedewitsch was born October 28, 1945 in Milaca, Minnesota the daughter of Roy and Freda (Smith) Wiedewitsch.  She passed away peacefully Monday, May 8, 2023 at Eventide Nursing Home in Fargo.

   Jane was raised in the country near Detroit Lakes.  She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School May, 1963.  Jane then went on to attend the Wadena Area Technical Institute for Cosmetology.  She graduated in July 1965 and moved to Grand Rapids, MN to begin her Cosmetology career.  Jane left Grand Rapids to move to Louisville, KY for a few years. She returned to Fargo and was employed at the Tool Crib within Steiger Tractor Company in 1975.  In 1977, Jane gave birth to her only son, Michael Jon.  He was her pride and joy.  She left the Steiger position in 1983 and worked various other jobs.  Jane decided to go back to school to further her education.  While she attended NDSU she was a member of the Phillpsilon Omicron Honor Society in Home Economics.  Jane graduated from NDSU in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. 

   She then went to work at The Village Family Service Center as a Financial Counselor.  Jane then accepted a position at Fargo Housing Authority which is where formed many great friendships.  She had many different positions her years there.  Many of her clients at Fargo Housing referred to her as Miss Jane.  Jane retired from Fargo Housing in November 2010.

   Once retired, Jane continued to do volunteer work for the YWCA, FM Homeless Coalition and the Fargo Food pantry.  She enjoyed getting together with her Craft Club friends and the Retirees group.  Jane was also an active member of the FM Cosmopolitan Club.  She also worked for a brief time at Minot State University applying for grants with the program Money Follows the Person.

   She had several different interests in her life.  Her favorite one was watching her son race dirt track racing and many of his other hobbies.  She was very proud of him for graduating High School and going on to Tech school.  Jane was so happy with what a successful man he became.  Most recently, she was proud of him when he got married and she was able to participate and be a part of the special event.  She also loved cookbooks, reading, shoes and shopping for clothes.  Jane was an amazing lady and an amazing chef in the kitchen.  There will be a large void to fill with her being gone.  Jane was a very unselfish person with a big heart.

   Jane made many friends in the short time that she lived at Eventide.  These friends would meet for coffee in the morning and their meals throughout the day also for crafts, church and singing.

   She is survived by her son: Michael (Dawn) Wiedewitsch; Brothers: Archie (Linda) Wiedewitsch; Jack (Carol) Wiedewitsch; Jim (Janet) Wiedewitsch; Granddaughters: Jordan and Joselyn; Great Granddaughter: Josie; Nephew: Scott; Nieces: Dawn; Stacie; Laura; Jess and Emma; and other extended family and friends.

   Jane was preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Freda; Brother: Bob; Nephew: Shane; and Grandparents and Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

   Memorial Service: Friday, May 12, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, with visitation two hours prior to the service.
