Jan Erickson

   Janice Rosemarie Erickson, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, surrounded by her children. 

   Jan was born Mar. 25, 1938, to Harry and Adeline Nelson. She was raised on a farm near Stephen, MN.  After graduation she married Vance Erickson on Oct. 27, 1956 in Thief River Falls, MN. They moved to Fargo, ND and made their home. They raised four children here, sons Perry and Scott, and daughters Denae and Stacy.  She was a stay at home mom for many years, but did work at CBI, and was a kitchen manager at Carl Ben Eielson Elementary School before retirement. 

   She loved her family more than anything. Along with her children she had thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She never missed a birthday and remembered all the dates until the very end!  She loved watching her kids’ sporting events and rarely missed a game. She continued this with the grandchildren’s games whenever she could. She would even watch hockey games on her IPad when she couldn’t attend them. She was a diehard MN Twins and Vikings fan too and would watch or listen on the radio every chance she could.  Other hobbies she loved were coloring in her adult coloring books, her garden, and flowers. She could color for hours. She was so excited when we brought her new books. Her garden was planted and taken care of by her brother Rick. She loved the fresh vegetables and would can and freeze many items. She also loved her flowers. She couldn’t wait to get new ones each spring/summer. She would count all the new buds coming up in each of them and waiting to see the beautiful flowers she would get. 

   She was an amazing lady. She was kind, caring, loving, selfless, and giving. She was the calming force of the family. We will miss her beyond words and love her forever. 

   She is survived by her sons Perry (BJ), and Scott (Carrie) and daughter Stacy (Wayne) Burns, brothers Gary and Rick Nelson, twelve grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. 

   She is preceded in death by her husband Vance, parents, grandparents, her daughter, Denae, her brother Forrest, sisters Renee and Anita, and granddaughter Corinne. 

Visitation: Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Memorial Service: Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
