James “Jim” Robinson 58, of Virginia Beach, VA and formerly of Leonard, ND, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 21, 2022, in San Francisco, CA.
Jim was born January 26, 1964, at Valley City, ND, the son of the Walter and Jayne (Buttke) Robinson. He attended Leonard Public School where he graduated in 1982. Jim was active in basketball, baseball, band and choir. He earned many awards in the state contests for his trombone. Jim attended NDSU, Mayville State and UND where he was in the hockey and concert bands. Jim graduated from Bowie State University with a degree in Management Information Systems.
He was in the U.S. Army for 12 years where he played the trombone in the band.
Jim married Marla Holland in 1994, when they were stationed in Germany. After the Army, they made their home in Virginia Beach, VA, where he was a computer consultant. Jim lived life to the fullest and was known for his humor. He loved music, traveling, photography and bicycling, but his truest love was for his wife, Marla and his children: Josh and Jenna. He will be missed.
Jim is survived by his wife: Marla; son: Joshua (Carla); daughter: Jenna all of the Virginia Beach, VA area; parents: Walter and Jayne Robinson of West Fargo, ND; sister: Karla (William) Stone of Moorhead; and mother-in-law: Jean Walker of Maryville, TN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: James Walker.
Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
