James Hehr

James Albert Hehr, 76, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024.

He was Born on March 15, 1948, in Jamestown, North Dakota.  James grew up in Kulm, North Dakota. This is where he found his love for the outdoors, sports and a passion for adventure. He graduated from Kulm High School in 1966 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country while stationed in Germany.

James married the love of his life, Charlotte Schlenz, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three sons: Jared, Matthew, and Justin. A devoted husband and father, he shared his love of fishing, hunting, and camping with his family, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

For over 30 years, James worked at WW Wallwork, where his hard work and dedication were appreciated by all who knew him. He retired just a few days before his 70th birthday, looking forward to enjoying more time with his family and indulging in his passions.

James was a devoted fan of NDSU Bison Football, and there was nothing he loved more than spending time at the lake with friends, watching football, and sipping bourbon or beer. He had a zest for life and a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Casey and Jacqueline, his great-granddaughter Emelia, and his grand-dog Goldie, who brought him endless joy.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte, who passed away in 2021. He is survived by his three sons, his grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and many friends who will deeply miss his presence.

James will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends, and his enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation: Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Celebration of Life: Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Military Rites: Saturday, November 2, 2024 following the service at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Interment: At a later date at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
