Jaime Swanson Obituary

Jaime Swanson, 39, Fargo, ND passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo due to complications from viral pneumonia.

Jaime Wieers Swanson was born on April 3, 1981 in Fargo. She was raised in West Fargo, ND and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1999. She continued her education at Minnesota State University Moorhead where, in 2005, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Spanish. Jaime was a 7th and 8th grade Language Arts Teacher at Cheney Middle School from 2006 to present. In 2010 she earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Walden University.

Jaime enjoyed international travel, her favorite being Costa Rica where she had the opportunity to further her Spanish and marvel at the country’s flora and fauna—particularly the monkeys. She loved to sing, especially karaoke, and was an avid reader, often completing multiple novels per week. Jaime loved her students, and they loved her for her kindheartedness and humor. Her favorite place on earth was Sandy Beach on Lake Maud, and her compassion for animals was boundless. Jaime enjoyed meeting new people, many of whom ended up becoming lifelong friends. She will lovingly be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and contagious laughter.

Jaime is survived by her fiancé, Billy Brouillard of Fargo, her mother and step-father, Nancy and Larry Wiebusch of Lake Maud, MN; father and step-mother, Randy and Joann Swanson of Fargo; two brothers, Nate (Josh) Busko of Fargo and Adam Swanson of Fargo; step-sister Dawn (Jeremy) Paulsrud of Hendrum; step-brother Brian Schlapkohl of Halstad; step-nieces and step-nephews Laura, Jack, Emma, and Allyson; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Phyllis Sullivan of Argusville. Jaime is also survived by her beloved fur babies—two Shih Tzu named Sophie and Ziggy Star, a Yorkie named Bella, and a polydactyl rescue cat named Finn.

Jaime was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Victor and Esther Swanson; maternal grandfather, Donald Wieers; and cousins, Jill Swanson and Shannon Swanson.

A private family service will be held. The family requests memorials be sent to a local animal rescue or humane society.
