Jack Fuller of West Fargo, ND died on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024 at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND at the age of 83.
John “Jack” Fuller was born in Hope, ND to Clinton Fuller and Dorothy (Shosky) Fuller January 19, 1941. He graduated from Hope High School in 1959. The next year he enrolled at the State school of Science in Wahpeton, ND. After a year of trade school, he transferred to Valley City State University and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Industrial Arts. In 1966, he started his teaching career at Borden Central High School, Calvin, ND.
He married his love Janice Levin, December 27, 1966. They moved to Wimbledon, ND where Jack served a secondary principal and teacher. He completed his master’s in education administration and after 7 years, took the position of superintendent of schools in Hannaford, ND. Later, Jack took the job of full-time elementary principal at Central Cass, Casselton, ND. He remained at this job for 22 years, retiring with 36 years in education, and moved to West Fargo.
Jack’s competitive nature took him through many “hobbies”. He raced snowmobiles at a championship level, winning in many ND cities and in Canada. Later he shot trap, winning many local and state championships. He competed in the Grand American Trap Shoot in Vandalia, Ohio 3 times. He finished his career as a AA Shooter. Competitive rifle shooting was another sport Jack enjoyed. Fishing, hunting, travel, and writing were always in the top of the things he and Jan pursued.
At age 68 he got into music. He took guitar lessons weekly from Diane Townsend for years. After losing his left ear to a virus, music became more difficult, but that did not stop Jack. He learned to play the mandolin and started playing the violin. He wrote a gospel hymn that played in several area churches. The hymn, “Help Me Find the Way”, was patterned after his life and some faith issues he was having at the time.
His last endeavor with Jan was starting pistol shooting at the Red River Marksmanship Center. He also volunteered to take kids fishing. He was always willing to help someone.
Jack is survived by his wife Janice; two brothers Ed (Deb) Fuller, Moorhead, MN and Mark Fuller, Wahpeton, ND, sister Jane (Gary) Sisk, Kokomo, IN; brother-in-law Mic Fosdick and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Fosdick.
