Hattie Witt

   Hattie Witt, 95, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Sanford Health West Campus in Fargo, ND.

   Hattie E. Witt, a long-time resident of West Fargo, was born on January 23, 1931 in Silva, ND after her mom went into labor after tripping over a wheelbarrow. She weighed less than 2 pounds and fit in a shoe box. She later moved to Balta where she helped her mother with ringing the bell and cleaning at the church.

   She moved to Fargo in her early twenties to babysit her sister’s kids when her sister had a baby. She also worked as a nanny for a while.

   She met her husband (Art) in the summer of 1955 and they married on Nov. 5th, 1955. They were married for 55 years before Art’s death in 2011.

   She was employed for the West Fargo Schools as a cleaning aide for 20+ years before retiring.

   She is preceded in her death by her husband Arthur, her parents Joe & Eugenia, brother Bill, sisters Ann, Katharine, Phyllis and Marcy plus various other relatives.

   She leaves behind her children, Elaine and Leon, both West Fargo, a sister, Yvonne and a brother Bob, both Fargo, and a sister-in-law, Harriet Wentz, Camas, WA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

   She will be missed by everyone because of her kindness and loving nature.

   Rest in peace.

   Funeral Mass: Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

   Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery – North, Fargo.
