Harvey Nelson

Harvey Nelson, 73, Fargo, ND passed away on Feb. 10, 2026 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo surrounded by family and friends.

Harvey was born Nov. 23, 1952 in Mayville, ND the 4th of 5 children to Ira and Arlene (Knudson) Nelson. He grew up in Mayville graduating from high school in 1971 (last year of the Lions). He lived in Mayville where he worked for Haugen Feed. He also worked custom combining and managed KFC’s for a short time while in Billings, MT and in Colorado.

Harvey married Mary Volk on Sept. 13, 1998 at Mayville. Harvey’s three children, Heather, Ira and Corey joined Mary’s two children, Perrin and Patrick to complete their new family. Harvey and Mary moved to Fargo where he worked in environmental services at Sanford Medical Center and later in retirement the ND Grain Inspection Service and Heise (a Microsoft contract company).

He was a solid family man that had an endless amount of friends. He loved golfing whether with family, friends or on the senior league. Harvey also enjoyed spending “quality time” with his nephews and friends and served on the board of the Red River Singles Club in Fargo in the 1990’s.

Harvey leaves behind his loving wife, Mary; five children, daughter, Heather (Monte) Eggers of New Richmond, WI (Samantha (Brady) Anderson –kids Ewan & Cillian, Kolton Eggers, Isabelle Eggers and Alexandra Eggers), son, Ira (Lisa) Roberson of Bismarck, ND (Paige & Taylor Roberson), son, Corey Roberson of Bismarck (Ethan Roberson), step son, Perrin (Cheri) Job of Jamestown, ND (Austin and Lindsey Job) and step son, Patrick (Mandi) Job of Sanborn, ND  (Troy (Alyssa) Rudolph -child Haelyn, Ryan (Brandi) Rudolph -kids Paisley & Kyan, Brittnie (Austin) Kessler -kids Waylon & Myles, Ethan (Tara) Job -kids Bentley & Hudson).  He is also survived by two siblings, Kay Olstad of Fargo and Clayton (Brenda) Nelson of West Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Shirley Nelson and many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Arlene Nelson; infant granddaughter, Dylyn Roberson; brothers, Roger and Vernon Nelson; brother-in-law, Gary Olstad; mother-in-law, Billie Hehn.

Memorial Service: Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 at 11 AM at Faith Journey Lutheran Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior. (family requests attendees wear hockey shirts (Fargo Force or UND), golf shirts or bright colors)

Final Resting Place: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Portland, ND.
