Glenn Willis Johnson, 90, passed away at Heather’s House on July 13, 2026 from complications of Alzheimer’s with his wife of 44 years, Carmen holding his hand.
Glenn was born to Iver and Bernice (Lindeman) Johnson on October 31, 1935, 11th child of 12; and lived in Page ND where he went to country school and later school in Page. He worked on various farms in the area before entering the Army in January 1954 and was honorably discharged from March Air Force Base in California in January 1956 as a Corporal.
Glenn worked in roofing and construction before settling into body work and paint. Glenn worked for BF Chesley’s in Fargo and then started Glenn’s Body Repair, Inc. in 1976 in West Fargo. He ran his business until 1995 when he retired due to health concerns. His son Rick took over the business and it continues to be in operation today.
Glenn married Darlene Jensen in 1958 and she brought 3 children to the marriage, Teri (Tim) Holland, Michael Johnson, Mitchell (Jean) Johnson, all of Fargo, ND. They became a blended family later with Rick (Karen) Johnson, Fargo; Candace (Paul) Poelaert, Hoffman, MN.
Glenn married Carmen Pierson on May 22, 1982 and moved to Horace, ND where they lived for almost 30 years. Then, in 2011, they moved to West Fargo and Glenn lived there until his death. They also had a winter home in Bullhead City, AZ, where they spent 10 years of winters, selling that home in 2021.
Glenn enjoyed the grandkids, which he watched for a number of summers at the Horace home. He also enjoyed the lake and fishing for many years after retiring. Glenn was an avid gardener and loved maintaining his lawn to park status. In his later years, he enjoyed many, many games of Yahtzee.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen. His children and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Johnson of Fargo and Brady Johnson of Jamestown. Ian Johnson (Anne) of Horace, ND and Lane Johnson of Fargo. Glynis Nystrom, St. Charles, MO, and Olivia Volker, East Huntingdon, PA. Paul Holland, Litchville, ND, Angie Holland Long, Elizabeth Holland, both from Fargo, ND. And 4 great-grandchildren, Faye and Melfina Nystrom and Iver and Nils Johnson. Sisters-in-law Garnet Pierson, Deanna Kubas and Brother-in-law Jason Pierson. Also, many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Erving, Gertrude Rye, Genevieve Nelson, Marvin, Arnold, Viola Ose, Frank, Wesley, Norman, Sylvia Johnson and Elvin. Also, brothers-in-law Clarence Haugen, Dan Nelson, Allen Ose, sisters-in-law Donna Johnson, Margaret Johnson, Barb Johnson, Evonne Johnson and Shirley Johnson. Daughter-in-law Mona Johnson. And Grandsons Joshua Glenn Johnson and Corey Matthew Johnson. Brothers-in-law Kerwin and Cameron Pierson and Marvin Kubas.
Visitation: Monday, July 20, 2026, one hour prior to the funeral.
Funeral: Monday, July 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at West Funeral Home in West Fargo
Burial with Military Rites: Monday, July 20, 2026 at 3:40 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
