Gerry Hedberg

   Gerry Lee Hedberg, age 78, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota. Funeral services will take place in West Fargo on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at West Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Parshall Cemetery on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held following the burial at the Parshall Fire Department.

   Gerry was born on June 26, 1947, in Minot, North Dakota, to Addison and Doris (Edwardson) Hedberg. He was raised and educated in Parshall, North Dakota. Gerry furthered his education at NDSSS in Wahpeton, graduating with a degree in Diesel Mechanics and Auto Mechanics. After graduation, he began his career with Butler. In 1978, Gerry joined Boring and Tunneling of America, working as a rock saw technician in the Houston, Texas area. In the summer of 1980, he returned to Parshall to farm alongside his father. He later served as a diesel mechanic for several companies in Minot. During his tenure at Cenex in Rolla, Gerry began experiencing heart issues. He concluded his professional career at Swenson Equipment in Minot.

   On March 1, 1975, Gerry was united in marriage to Marilyn Thompson. Their union was blessed with four children: Mandi, Lani, Cody, and Gerry Edward. Although they later divorced, Gerry remained devoted to his family.

   Gerry took great pleasure in serving as the cook for Boy Scout Troop 416, forging enduring memories and friendships. He cherished his time at the lake, often found fishing in the early morning or towing children, neighbors, and friends tubing and skiing behind the boat. Annual elk hunting trips with close friends were a highlight in his life; as his family grew, these trips gradually transitioned to deer hunting expeditions in the Hettinger area, where he continued to create lasting memories with his children and grandchildren, as well as with William and Colleen Galbreth. Gerry also treasured his visits back to Parshall to reconnect with friends, fish, and share stories.

   Gerry bravely faced significant heart challenges, receiving an LVAD in 2013, which led to a heart transplant in 2015 in Dallas, Texas. He embraced his renewed health, traveling to the Caribbean and Alaska. In later years, as his kidneys declined, he underwent dialysis treatments for seven years. Gerry made the decision to enter hospice care on April 10, 2026.

   Gerry is survived by his beloved children, Mandi and Tim Lembcke (Mandan, ND), Lani Hedberg (Louisville, KY), Cody and Michelle Hedberg (West Fargo), and Gerry Edward Hedberg (Fargo); grandchildren, Alexa and Mike Oien, Abby Lembcke (Brad Barnhardt), Maleah and Silas Hedberg; siblings, Randy Hedberg and Chery Hysjulien, Dee Dee Lampert, Rick and Andrea Hedberg; as well as numerous Edwardson and Hedberg cousins.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Addison and Doris, and his brother, Brent Hedberg.

Visitation: Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Memorial Service: Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 4:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo.

Interment: Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Parshall Cemetery.

Reception: Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Parshall Fire Hall following the burial.
