George Fredrickson Obituary

George I. Fredrickson 94, West Fargo, ND, formerly of Minot, ND, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 surrounded by family.

George was born in Williston, ND, on February 2, 1925, the son of Nels and Gladys Fredrickson.  He attended Fargo Central High School and graduated from there in 1943.  He started working at the Electric Appliance Store fixing appliances.  It was there he met the love of his life, Jule Jacobson, who happened to be waiting for a city bus.  They were married March 7, 1949.

George went on to train as a pharmaceutical salesman for Northern Drug Company.  He transferred to Minot and worked for them for four years before joining Dakota Drug Company in the fall of 1964.  He stayed with them until he retired in 1989. He traveled tens of thousands of miles of northwest North Dakota and eastern Montana each year and met countless people who became good friends.  Finally, the cold, snowy winters became too much for him to tackle and he retired.

George and Jule purchased a cabin at Pelican Lake in 1952 and spent many years enjoying fishing, golfing, swimming and all the relatives and friends that spent time with them there.

George was an active member of the Golden Kiwanis Club, the Eagles, Elks, and Christ Lutheran Church in Minot, where he enjoyed working with the men of Christ Lutheran making Klub to sell at the Hostfest.  George and Jule joined the Lutheran Church of the Cross in West Fargo when they moved to West Fargo in 2011 after they lost their Minot home in the flood that year.

George will be missed by his wife of 70 years Jule, daughter Kay Eslinger (George) of Bismarck, ND, and son Dana Fredrickson (Lorie) of Onalaska, WI.  In addition, grandsons Matt Eslinger (fiancé Kelsey Braker), Schofield, WI, Greg Eslinger (Stephanie), Orono, MN, Capt. Trenton Fredrickson, Clarksville, TN, and granddaughter Dr. Kyla Fredrickson, Wauwatosa, WI and great grandchildren Easton, Grant and Heath Eslinger. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Skauge, Rosemount, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene Fredrickson, and sister Mildred (Milly) Erickson, infant son Blake Jay Fredrickson and grandson Jered Eslinger.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Red River Valley Hospice, Lutheran Church of the Cross, West Fargo or a charity of your choice.
