Floy Lamb

Floy Edith (Carpenter) Lamb, 78, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND.

Floy was born August 2, 1947, in Fargo, ND.  She grew up in Casselton, ND and graduated high school in Casselton in 1965.  She went on to graduate from Valley City State University in North Dakota.  She married her much loved husband, Jim Lamb, on August 10, 1968.  Floy and Jim raised their two children, Joe and JoAnn, in Watertown, SD.

After years of taking care of Joe and JoAnn as young children, Floy returned to working in 1984 as a teacher and librarian at Wavery School in Waverly, South Dakota.  She made long lasting impressions with the students.  They would stop and visit with her when they saw her in Watertown.  In her later years, she truly enjoyed baking and cooking.  She cooked and baked goodies for family, friends, and neighbors right up until she could not.  She enjoyed visiting with people.  Floy did not meet anyone that did not become her friend by the end of the first conversation.  She was known for asking people to tell her about themselves.  She will also be remembered for all the stories that she shared.

Floy is survived by her children, Joe Lamb and JoAnn (Travis) Paulson; grandsons, Alec, Ethan and Noah; sisters-in-law, Jackie Lamb and Judy Hassett; brother-in-law, Darryl Hyatt; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Evelyn Carpenter; her brother, Tom Hassett; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Floyd Preston; brother-in-law, Kent Lamb; and sister-in-law Judy Hyatt.

Visitation: Friday, December 19, 2025, from 2-5 PM, at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.  Joe and JoAnn invite family and friends to come visit and have coffee between 2-5PM.
