Eunice (Bohn) Hackey

Eunice Hackey, age 88, of West Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Kind-er Care, West Fargo.

Eunice Ann Bohn was born February 24, 1933, in Brandenburg Township of Richland County ND to Henry and Hilda (Gollnick) Bohn.  She worked alongside her father on the farm, later attending NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND.

On September 4, 1952, she married Newell Duane Hackey.  They moved to Litchville, ND, where they raised their three children and worked together at C.H. Carpenter Lumber.  Eunice was known to be a hard worker, working alongside Newell for their time in Litchville, picking up extra jobs including painting barns and building steel bins.  They were avid supporters of their children even winning the Fan of the Year award at Litchville High School.

Newell and Eunice moved to West Fargo in 1981. Newell worked for Midland Overhead Door, while Eunice started out at Floor To Ceiling, later moving to Scheels.

They spent many winters in McAllen, TX, and summers at Lake Melissa in MN. They purchased a home in Mesa, AZ, where Newell passed away February 27, 2013.  Eunice then divided her time between her home in West Fargo, with her daughter at Colfax, and in Mesa, AZ.

She leaves behind her children Vince (Jolene) Hackey, West Fargo, ND; Vanessa (Paul) Kummer, Colfax, ND and Scott (Jeanie) Hackey, Parker CO; grandchildren Jeremy Hackey, Dustin (Rachel) Hackey, Jesse (Hannah) Haksgaard, Blaine (Megan) Kummer, Rachael Kummer; and great-grandchildren Josie and Dalton Hackey, Ida and Odin Haksgaard, Owen Kummer and Maxwell Schmiedeke.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Glennis Sanden; nephews Gerald and David Sanden and great grandson Liam Paul Kummer.

Graveside Service:  11 am Monday, September 27, 2021, at Fargo National Cemetery, rural Harwood, ND

Following the interment, a reception with the family will be held at the West Fargo VFW, beginning at 11:45am Monday.
