Ernest Jorgen Howe passed away on September 13 at Essentia Health with his wife and daughter by his side.
He was born on July 17, 1953 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the oldest child of Eugene and Evelyn. As a young child they moved to ND and was raised in Velva ND and Fargo. Ernie graduated from Fargo North in 1971, attended NDSU and soon began his long career with Nash Finch. He grew up around the corner from NDSU and was proud to say that his first job as a kid was selling concessions at Dacotah Field. Being a lifelong Bison fan, he travelled to many out of state games and championships. Ernie married Nancy Schmidt and together they raised one daughter, Nicole. Ernie retired as a receiving clerk in 2015 and was able to spend summers at his happy place, their cabin on Height of Land Lake where he enjoyed fishing the area lakes.
Ernie was a talker and a teller of stories and enjoyed socializing with his many lake friends around the campfire.
