Ernest Seidel

Ernest Theodore Seidel, born on June 27, 1935, to Albert and Myrtle Seidel, peacefully joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2026.  He was 90 years old.

Ernest spent his life in the Pelican Rapids area, working the family farm alongside his brothers Merle, Gordon, and Harvey.  He was preceded in death by his brother Arlen and sister Gloria.

A proud Army veteran, Ernest served in Alaska, where he was entrusted with the care of nuclear supplies.  His quick wit and sense of humor brought laughter to everyone around him.

Ernest was a devoted caretaker, lovingly tending to his mother during her later years.  He also shared a deep friendship with Maureen Fischer.

In his later years, Ernest lived at Farmstead Care in Moorhead, where he cherished the company of the staff and enjoyed attending chapel and playing BINGO.  His cheerful spirit and generous nature touched many lives, and he was known for sharing his winnings and candy with others.

He also delighted in the visits from homeschool children, who would read and color with him, always bringing a smile to his face.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Farmstead Care staff for their compassionate care.  Ernest will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Ernest would be happy to have donations made to Church’s United at 1901 1st Avenue North, Moorhead, MN 56560 and Jail’s Chaplain at 1111 Westrac Drive, Fargo, ND 58103.

Visitation: Monday, January 19, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Funeral Service: Monday, January 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Military Rites: Monday, January 19, 2026 at West Funeral Home, West Fargo following the service.

Interment: Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 9:00 AM at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
