Edward E. Fowler

Edward E. Fowler, age 87, of Garrison, ND, died peacefully Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Benedictine Living Center, Garrison, ND

Edward Eugene Fowler was born February 15, 1934, at Fargo, ND, the son of Edward N. and Bernice (Brekke) Fowler.  He was raised on the family farm and attended school at Amenia, ND.  He entered the Marine Corps in 1952 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1955.  Ed then attended college at Valley City, ND, and received a teaching certificate.

In January of 1958, Edward was united in marriage to Mary Louise Peterson at Webster, SD.    Ed owned and operated Ed’s Bar 1957 – 1961 at Arthur, ND,  where  he and Mary started their family with the first of four children born to them in 1959.   

Then came the move to Grand Forks, ND,  where he worked as a firefighter and electrical contractor 1962 – 1994.   Once retired, Ed moved to Garrison, ND, later to Watford City, ND, and then returned to Garrison.

Ed was a Life Member of the American Legion, AMVETS, VFW and the NRA.

He is survived by his four children, Edward E. Fowler, Jr, and Matt Fowler, both Garrison, ND, Bob (Sue) Fowler, Aurora, IL, and Kathy (Marcel) Devigne, Winnipeg, MB, Canada; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Arlene (David – deceased) Goble, VA, Duane (Ginger) Fowler, Fargo, ND, and Dennis (Renee) Fowler, Casselton, ND. 

 A Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Amenia Cemetery, Amenia ND.   Military Honors will be provided by Marine Corps Honors Team, and VFW Post #762, Fargo.
