Donna Voorhees, 89, Moorhead, MN died peacefully on December 23rd at Eventide Care Center.
Born to Delmar and Jean Pierce, Donna grew up in Duluth, MN and graduated from Morgan Park High School. She served in the US Air Force where she met and married Carrol Voorhees. Together they had five children, Wayne, Delmar, Kim, Jeff and Brad.
Donna later returned to school and became a nurse and worked at Miller-Dwan Hospital in Duluth, MN. When Donna retired from nursing, she moved to Fargo to be near her grandchildren.
Donna always believed that it was important to be useful and she was a tireless volunteer. She worked as a volunteer at Harwood Elementary School for many years and as a volunteer at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, MN. In 2011 she was recognized as “Woman of the Year” for volunteerism by the FM Chamber.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Carrol and two of her sons, Kim and Jeff. She is survived by three sons, Wayne, Delmar and Brad and ten grandchildren.
As per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. There will be a family service, graveside, when she is buried in Duluth Oneota Cemetery later this Spring.
