Donald Rehling

Donald W. Rehling, 94, of Fargo, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Essentia Health in Fargo.

Don was born on July 20, 1931 in Josephine, ND to Myrtle (Harrington) and Joseph Rehling. He grew up in Maddock, ND and graduated from high school in Valley City, ND. He worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone where he met Greta Price and married her on July 27, 1952, in Mandan. He did a term in the Army in Georgia and New Jersey before returning home to ND and Northwestern Bell. They lived in LaMoure, ND and Lisbon, ND and moved to Fargo in 1979 until present.

He loved fishing, trapping and hunting of all kinds. He coached Little League baseball, went fishing in Canada and hunted deer, elk and birds across the Midwest. He was a fire chief in Lisbon, ND and was a member of the Lisbon Jaycees, Telephone Pioneers, American Legion and Elks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Lila, Ruby, Pat (Melvina), Vivian, Dorothy, Doran, Joseph, and Fred, his wife, Greta, and his grandson, Shawn.

He is survived by his daughter, Terri (Dave) Stokes, Sandy (Cheryl Prins) Rehling and Judi (Mike) Scherweit; grandchildren Matt (Elizabeth) Faller, Deanna Faller, Caitlin Schuessler and Laurel Parsons, Jeremy (Maddii) Stokes, Reshia (Travas) Rheault, Keith (Bridgette) Stokes, Steve (Nicci) Scherweit and Kristi (Justin) Paquette; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Tatum, Quinn, Mya, Kira, Damon, Sophie, Emma, Chase, Dylan, MacKenzie, Henry, Macie, Scarlett, Archie and Tillie and sister-in-law Arlyn Price and niece Linda Lee Hakanson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to HIA (Hearts in Action) and Telephone Pioneers of North Dakota.

Don’s family would like to extend a special thank you to HIA Hospice and Essentia’s doctors and third floor nurses, Alex, Tamara and Krystel (and many more) who gave such tender care.

Memorial Service: Friday, December 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo, ND with visitation one hour prior.

Interment: At a later date at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
