Dixie Rae Bruce Obituary

Dixie Rae Bruce, 79, passed away in her home in Horace, ND on September 23, 2024. She was born on July 23, 1945, in Bismarck, ND to Henry and Regina (Ressler) Kinsella. She was raised in Mandan, ND with her eight siblings.

Dixie married the love of her life, Rodney Bruce, on September 7, 1963, in Mandan, ND. They moved to the Fargo area where, upon settling in West Fargo, they raised their three children: Troy, Tracy, and Todd.

Dixie worked in customer service and Head Start in the community where she loved to socialize and meet new people. Using her gift of gab, it seemed that everyone knew her. Her home was always open to others with a meal awaiting, and conversation. One of her passions was feeding the masses, be it family, friends, or racers. After retiring, her greatest gift was being able to care for her grandchildren, great-grandchild, and multiple children in the community through her in-home daycare.

Dixie had many interests, hobbies, and activities that kept her busy. Her biggest passion through the years was drag racing with Rodney and the family. Her impact extended far beyond her love for drag racing. Her kindness, humility, and generosity of spirit made her a cherished friend to many in the racing community and beyond. She was a key part of the success of both the Northland Drag Racers Association and the Mid-West Wild Bunch, always rooting for her favorite car that she owned with Rodney: The Vanishing Warrior.

Dixie is proceeded in death by her daughter Tina Marie Bruce; Her parents: Henry and Regina Kinsella; In-laws: Robert and Anne Bruce; Sister: June (Fred) Broder; Brothers: Robert Kinsella, Jim (Linda) Kinsella, Harold (Phyllis) Kinsella, and Gary Kinsella; Brother-in-laws: Kenny Snider, Allan Fandrick, Robert (Lucille) Bruce, Gene (Velma) Bruce, and Roger Bruce.

She is survived by her loving husband Rodney Bruce of 61 beautiful years of marriage. Children: Troy (Jessi) Bruce, Tracy (Dan) Bruce, and Todd (Jolene) Bruce; Grandchildren: C.J. Bruce, Connor (Jordyn) Bruce, KeerieAnne Bruce, Alorah Bruce, Brooke Johnson, Sabrina Kindy, and Noah Johnson; Bonus Grandchildren: Austin Neels and Gage Erickson; Great-Grandchildren: Harmony Bruce, Rhiannon Lewis, Easton Lewis, Jaidin Bruce, and Avery Bruce; Siblings: Karen Snider, Tim (Arvada) Kinsella, and Jackie Fandrick; In-laws: David (Betty) Bruce and Pauline Bruce; and many nieces and nephews.

Dixie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and one heck of a cook. She will be missed by all, holding a special place in all our hearts.
