Dennis Lindemann Obituary

   Dennis started his journey to the New Heaven and Earth on September 12, 2020.  Dennis died at Sanford Broadway Medical Center under the care of Dr. Abdallah Zahr.

   Born January 25th, 1935 at Nome ND in Dr. Nesse’s Office to Verner F. and Clara Utke Lindemann.  Raised on a Farm near Enderlin ND, he attended one room school, Pontiac 100, for 8 years and then graduated from Enderlin HS in 1953.  Attended NDSU (then NDAC), The first of 4 brothers to graduate with Engineering degrees from NDSU.  While attending NDSU he farmed with his father helping to put the crop in two spring quarters and working thru the harvest.  Dennis was selected to represent Enderlin HS at North Dakota Boys State.   Dennis was active in 4H thru all his school years and was privileged to represent ND at the National 4H Camp in Washington, DC in 1954.

   Dennis married the love of his life Donna R Hill on September 1, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enderlin.  Dennis and Donna moved to Waterloo, Iowa in February, 1958 where Dennis joined the John Deere Company.  All 4 of their Children were born in Waterloo as Donna became a stay at home Mom.  Dennis’s work career consisted of Engineering and Management positions with John Deere in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Melroe Bobcat in Gwinner and Bismarck, ND and Wil-Rich, Inc in Wahpeton, ND.  In 1986 Dennis started his own company, D E Lindemann Enterprise, which provided manufacturing and powder coating services to the trade, selling the business in 2002.  While with Melroe, Dennis patented several devices on the Hydraulic Harroweeder.

   Dennis was baptized after birth at Pontiac Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enderlin, ND.  Dennis served on Church Boards starting at Waterloo, IA and continuing at Gwinner, ND; Bismarck, ND; Wahpeton, ND and Perham, MN.  Dennis served as a director on several volunteer boards during his work years including Missouri Slope Lutheran Home in Bismarck, ND, Economic development boards in Gwinner and Wahpeton, and the NDSU Alumni Association.     

   Dennis and Donna bought lake property on Big McDonald Lake near Dent, MN in 1980.  There they enjoyed many summer weekends with their children and grandchildren and then in 1996 made it their year around home.  During his first retirement, Dennis worked at the Perham Lakeside Golf Course.  Dennis and Donna began wintering in Mesa, Arizona and continued for 14 years until 2015. Dennis once again came out of retirement and worked for 10 years in the Pro Shop at Apache Wells Country Club in Mesa AZ, retiring at the age of 80.  During the summer of 2015 Dennis and Donna sold their lake property and moved to Fargo, ND to One Oak Place.

   Dennis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna R. (Hill) Lindemann, children: Scott D. (Christie) Lindemann, of Coon Rapids, MN, Neil V. (Margie) Lindemann, of Fargo, ND, Kerry R. (Pam) Lindemann, of Scottsdale, AZ, and Mary K. (George) Wellner, of Kalispell, MT, 11 grandchildren: Charlie (Meghan) Lindemann, of Maple Grove, MN, Alex (Kristi) Lindemann, of Shorewood, MN, Tara Thompson, of Jordan, MN, Tessa Lindemann, of Webster, MN, Ashley (Tyler) Holmes, of Phoenix, AZ, Jordan Lindemann, of Chicago, IL, Jon Lindemann, of Scottsdale, AZ, Casey (Laura) Orgon, of Anoka, MN, and Caitlin Orgon, of Bemidji, MN, two step-grandchildren: Kelly (Peter) Schuna, of Stillwater, MN, and Mike Wellner, of Hutchinson, MN,  11 great grandchildren: Logan Lindemann, Parker Lindemann, Maya Lindemann, Jackson Nesmoe, Jace Nesmoe, Mackenzie Holmes, Maretta Lindemann, and Emery Lindemann, 3 step great-grandchildren: Gavin Schuna, Reese Schuna, and Isaac Schuna, 3 brothers: Ronald (Carole) Lindemann, of China Lake, CA, Darrell (Barb) Lidemann, of Lakeville, MN, and Vernell (Pat) Lindemann, of Enderlin, ND, and 1 brother in law and 5 sisters in law: Arlene Geske, of Enderlin, ND, and Jean (Larry) Turner, of Concho, AZ, along with 13 nieces and nephews as well as numerous cousins from the Robert Lindemann and Frank Utke families.

   Due to Covid-19, burial and a memorial service have been postponed until conditions allow for a gathering of family and friends.
