Dean Wesley Lykken, 86, of West Fargo, died peacefully at home after a long illness on October 22, 2025. Dean was born March 8th, 1939, to Laurence and Hazel Lykken in Grafton ND.
Following graduation from Grafton High School, Dean enlisted in the US Army, serving overseas in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1961. Dean worked at Lykken Pontiac until beginning a 49-year career as a State Farm Insurance agent, retiring in 2013. Dean and Connie travelled extensively with State Farm, forming many lifelong friendships.
Dean and Connie were married in Watertown SD in 1964 and are members of Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo ND. Dean and Connie loved living in Lake country having purchased and renovated 9 lake cabins during this stage of their life. Dean took great pride in landscaping, loved to golf with Connie, and travelling to their home in Arizona for the last 10 years. His biggest joy was spending time with his family and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Connie, his brother Norman of Bullhead City AZ, sons Brad (Jennie), Steve (Dawn) and grandchildren, Alec, Kennedi, and Chloe, and close family including Brian (Peggy) Arend, Leahrae Arend, and Bill (Colleen) Lykken.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and brother Don Lykken, sister Ruth Johnson, and sister Ethel Sander.
Celebration of Life: 4:00pm, Thursday, October 30, 2025, at West Funeral Home (321 Sheyenne St. West Fargo, ND 58078) with visitation one hour prior.
Reception to Follow: Thursday October 30, 2025, at the West Fargo VFW (444 Sheyenne St Suite 101, West Fargo, ND 58078).
