Darlene McGarry

Darlene McGarry, 80, West Fargo, ND passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at her home with her loving family at her side.

Darlene Alice Wasylow was born Aug. 21, 1941 in Grand Forks, ND to Fred and Alice (Stelmachuk) Wasylow. She was raised in Grand Forks and attended St. Michael grade school and graduated from St. James High School. Darlene went on to complete beautician school. She worked as a dental assistant and then owned and operated a Beauty Shop on the Grand Forks Air Force Base. Darlene married Pat McGarry on Feb. 23, 1963. She then worked at LaBelle’s Warehouse and TranSystems before they moved to West Fargo following the flood in 1997. She worked at Cost Cutters and later joined her husband at McGarry’s Barber Shop.

Darlene loved gardening, cooking, canning and hunting with family. She was also very artistic in making Ukrainian Easter eggs.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Pat; four children, Terry (Lori) McGarry of Davenport, ND, John (Jill) McGarry of Clearwater, MN, Brian (Beth) McGarry of Nisswa, MN and Michelle (Chad) Diamond of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Ryan (Meghan) McGarry, Matthew McGarry, Casey (Brittni) McGarry, Kelsey (Spencer) Davis, Jeff (Amy) Koble, Kiley McGarry, Eric Bangasser, Ben Bangasser and Nick (Kaile) Bangasser; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Volk of Fargo and Mildred Hiney of Detroit Lakes, MN.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Michael, William, Peter, Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas, Fred, Eugene and Donald “Jim.”

Funeral: Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 11 AM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.

Burial: Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
