Dale Robert Hiltwein, age 80, passed away on January 13, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by the love of the family he cherished. Born on April 24, 1945, Dale lived a life rooted in devotion—to his faith, to his family, and to the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Dale is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Hiltwein; his son, Del Hiltwein; his brother, Punky Hiltwein; and his parents, John and Irene Hiltwein. The thought of them together again brings comfort to those who miss him deeply.
Dale’s memory lives on through those who loved him most: his daughters, Tammy (Robert) Schwehr and Chrissy (Brandon) Hiltwein; his brother, Sonny Hiltwein; his sister, Carol Anderson; his grandchildren, Rachael (Cuyler) Johnson, Jessica, Paige, and Logan; and his treasured great‑grandchildren, Kinsley and Millie. Each of them carries a piece of his gentle spirit.
Dale and Cindy built their life and raised their family in Mapleton, ND creating a home filled with love, faith, and togetherness. Family meant everything to Dale, and he was especially proud of the close bond he shared with his grandchildren, whom he loved deeply.
He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—playing cards, shooting pool, listening to oldies, and spending time with the people he loved. His faith was a steady guide throughout his life, and his baptism brought him a sense of peace that never left him.
Dale will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion that will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
Funeral: 1 pm Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at West Funeral Home in West Fargo.
Visitation: An hour before the funeral.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND
