Connie Schroeder, 80, Erie, ND passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in Mesa, AZ.
Connie Berndt was born Sept. 7, 1945 in Fargo, ND to Ervin and Mae (Krueger) Berndt. She was raised in Erie and graduated from high school there. Connie continued her schooling at Valley City State where she received a degree in elementary education. She married Richard “Rick” Schroeder in June 21, 1969 in Arthur, ND. They made their home at Erie where they farmed for many years. She taught school in Wahpeton, Fargo and later Amenia, ND.
Rick passed away in 2016. She enjoyed winters in Arizona for several years. She cherished time with her children and grandchildren - the grandkids remember the bed time prayers. Growing up on the family farm, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, canning and was an avid reader. Connie and Rick loved country cruises looking at the crops, taking road trips and summers in MN lakes country with family.
Connie would often deliver the line “this is it” which now sums up her journey on Earth.
Connie leaves two children, Lisa VonBank and Daryl (Jessica) Schroeder; grandchildren, Alec Rasmussen, Gaberial Watkins, Mackenzie Steele, Myah Watkins, Emelia Schroeder, Jocelyn Schroeder, Annabel Schroeder and Caroline Schroeder; two sisters, Marlene Young and Mary (Jim) Eggers; sisters-in-law, Nancy Berndt, and Jean Berndt.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Luke VonBank; brothers, Wayne (Beatrice)Berndt, Wendell Berndt and Allan Berndt; and brother-in-law, Robert Young.
