Colleen Kauk Obituary

Colleen Fay Kauk, 55, passed away peacefully on November 5th at her sister’s house with family at her side in Fargo, ND.  She put up a long, hard fight with colon cancer but in the end the cancer won the battle.  Colleen was born in Aberdeen, SD on January 13, 1969, to Adeline and Albert Kauk.  She joined her older sister, Colette, in the family home in Ashley, ND.  After traveling throughout many states and towns, the family finally settled down in Ashley, ND.  She attended Ashley Elementary and Ashley High School, which she graduated from in 1987.

She moved from Ashley, ND to Wahpeton, ND where she remained for the rest of her time.  While in Wahpeton she worked at Pamida for some time, with her love of animals she opened a pet store in Wahpeton with a friend of hers.  After closing the pet store, she spent the next 21 years working at Econo Foods in Wahpeton.  She was known for her kindness to pets to the point that she would take in many strays and abandoned pets throughout her life.  She enjoyed passing her spare time doing various crafts that she loved to share with people.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Kauk, her mother, Adeline Kauk, and by her grandparents and some aunts and uncles and many pets.  She leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Colette & Dennis Erdmann, two nieces, Marisa Thoemke (Justin Kimball) & Allison Thoemke (Christaain Verryne) a grandnephew, Kylar Kimball and step nieces and nephews Justice Kimball, Tiara Kimball and Kymara Kimball, Izaiha Kimball and Braedyn Kimball.  She also leaves behind two of her closest friends, Cathy Malvick and Eldon “Drummer” Mueller along with many other people whose lives she touched in one way or another.  She also leaves behind two of her beloved cats, Benny & Sally, who were taken in my one of her friends, Eldon “Drummer” Mueller.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wahpeton Humane Society or the Wahpeton Zoo in Colleen’s name.

Celebration of Life:   A family and friends gathering will be held at Rosemeade Chalet on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4-7 PM.
