Chris Ann Demaray Obituary

Chris Ann Elizabeth Demaray "Ptįį Iksąh Xopíni" (Holy Buffalo Ways), Maxoxati Clan, was born December 10, 1956 to Maynard & Luella (Lindgren) Haddeland in New Town, ND, and was one of the last babies delivered by the famous Dr. Wilson.

Chris Ann was a mother, sister, grandmother, a tuff chick and a Shell Creek Cowgirl. She was 9 years old when she trained her favorite horse, Cimmeron. Chris Ann and Cimmeron had a special connection, loving him dearly. They even went swimming in the bay in summers and would go get ice cream in town!

To Chris Ann, her family came first. Including her fur babies.

Chris Ann loved her grandchildren with every bit of her heart and soul, and she spent as much time as she could with them. They were her happiness in life. Being called "Gramma" and "Gramma Chris Ann" are her most treasured titles.

Besides being "Momma", "Grandma Chris Ann" ,and a Shell Creek Cowgirl, Chris Ann held a passion for helping the community, especially the children in her community. She worked with communities from Williston, Mandaree, New Town, and all places in between, all the way to Sapello New Mexico to Pecos New Mexico, providing many children, young adults, and elders with her expertise in occupational therapy.

She also provided therapeutic support for horses, earning a degree in Equine Craniosacral Bodywork, as well as being a Parelli Natural Horseman. Her horse therapy was named "Dakota Equibalance Bodywork".

Chris Ann was a shaker and a mover, she was not afraid to speak her mind and she was not afraid to take chances. She was very brave, and taught her boys to do the same.

In 2007 Chris Ann along with her boys Sam & Zeb, loaded up the horses, dogs, cats and made a move to Las Vegas New Mexico. Chris Ann loved New Mexico, the landscape and the "High Desert" atmosphere.

She always wanted to go back, but Chris Ann eventually made her home at the Half a Day Ranch in Mandaree with Kenny Stevenson.

Kenny was her "ol' Man" and they loved each other dearly. Kenny was her sweetheart since she was a teenager. They spent countless hours tending to the horses, dogs, cats, flowers, and all the grandkids. Kenny stuck by her side and cared for her til the very end, and their love was unconditional.

Chris Ann was a woman of prayer & faith, and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She made special connections with the Gospel Tabernacle Church in New Town.
