Wayne (CW) Radebaugh, 91, Fargo formerly of Grandin, ND, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo.
Dad lived his life to the fullest until a stroke took him down at the age of 91 years and 47 days.
He spent his working days farming the land and raising livestock.
He loved our mom fiercely for well over 63 years and cared for her as she declined from Parkinson’s Disease.
We seldom saw Mom cry, but Dad was a different story. He’d tear up talking about his family and sob through the end of the Shenandoah movie. He could also swear a blue streak – he was a farmer, after all. But, around kids, he’d usually say “heck-y darn”!
He was extremely proud of his kids, calling us “good people”. His grandkids and great-grandkids brought him joy. He followed every game, concert, and stage performance.
He loved to tell stories and jokes and if he found one really funny, he could not make it through to the end without cracking himself up.
He loved sports. Played and coached them when younger. He loved ND high school basketball, especially in March. He followed NDSU football and basketball, and UND hockey (even though he never did understand the game).
When spending summers at Munson Lake, “the men” did a lot of golfing. It was amazing how his total score for a round during the week was significantly lower than on the weekends when golfing with “the boys”.
He and Mom also loved to travel with friends and family. Their adventures took them to Mexico, Hawaii, California, Wisconsin, Las Vegas.
In his later years, Dad was a creature of habit. Cheerios for breakfast. Down to the exercise room to work out “hard”. Read the paper. Watch Izzo. Squeeze in naps. Early bedtime so he could be up at 4:30 am to start his day. (don’t ask why…it was just what he did)
Dad was kept active the last several years by hanging out with a special companion, Harriet. She had him going just about every day. Short trips to Grandin, Enderlin, Nome, the lake. Harwood Seniors, Sons of Norway, dancing twice a week, church events, Legion burger night. They had a whole network of friends from these activities.
He leaves a sad but grateful family behind:
Billie Jo and Mark Hayes, their daughters Shannon and Mallory
Becky and Greg Barker, their son Andrew (Meagan; Dillon and Preslee) and daughter Jennifer (Jack, Caroline and Estley)
Dave and Emily (Shorty Ihnken) Radebaugh, their sons Elliott (Kaylin) and Connor (Kim)
Our Mom, Joie, left us in 2017. And many other friends and family passed away before him too.
It’s hard to capture 91+ years in a document. Safe to say that Dad was a great husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. We want to think he is now enjoying a nice bourbon, riding on a pontoon, and dancing the days away without pain.
