Caroline (Carrie) Jane Kleven
Carrie Jane Kleven was born November 13, 1946 — daughter of James D. Innes Sr and Gudrun F. Innes of Mountain, ND. When Carrie was 8, the family moved to Grand Forks, ND, where Carrie graduated from Central High School in 1963. That September, she married her first husband, Myron L. Halvorson. They had Carrie’s only child, daughter, Stacy.

Carrie and Myron divorced after 8 years together. Carrie spent several years as a single mother before she married the love of her life, Kenneth (Ken) E. Kleven, on January 25th,1980, after Ken had asked Stacy permission to marry her mother and allowed Stacy to pick the wedding date. Carrie and Ken loved to camp at Icelandic State Park, near Cavalier, ND, in their camper for many years until they bought a cabin on Union Lake near Erskin, MN, which they made their permanent home in 1994.

Carrie worked for the Grand Forks Herald for over three decades. Starting out in the library, cataloging the news articles published in the daily paper. She held various titles during that time, eventually retiring as Administrative Assistant to the Editor in 1995.  In 2005, Carrie moved to Moorhead, MN, to be closer to Stacy, CJ, and her two granddaughters, Shannon and Kelsey.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, James D. Innes Sr., Gudrun F. Innes, her beloved husband, Kenneth E. Kleven, brother James D. Innes II and sister Bonnie J. Fritz.

Carrie is survived by her daughter Stacy (CJ) Flanery, West Fargo, ND, Granddaughters Shannon (Blake Bouley) Flanery, West Fargo, ND and Kelsey (Max) Baumgartner, Horace, ND, Brother Robert (Joan) Innes, Selfoss, Iceland and sister Jennifer Olson, Grand Forks, ND as well as several nieces and nephews, and all of her beloved friends and neighbors.

Visitation: Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church - West Campus, West Fargo, ND.

Memorial Service: Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church - West Campus, West Fargo, ND.

Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND at a later date by the immediate family.
