Carol Thiseth Obituary

Carol Thiseth, 90, of Moorhead, MN and formerly of Wolverton, MN, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Lilac Homes in Dilworth, MN.

Carol Jean Ness was born in Wolverton Township on September 5, 1931 firstborn to Carlot and Jennie Ness (Heglie).  Carol grew up on the farm north of Wolverton, MN.  Carlot raised Carol, LaVaine and Jackie after their mother passed away with the help of several aunts and uncles.  Carol loved growing up on the farm.  She attended country school and graduated from Wolverton High School in 1949.

Carol and Anders were married on June 21, 1963.  They made their home on the Thiseth farm by Christine, ND where they raised their family.  She was a longtime member of South Pleasant Church and Ladies Aid.  She volunteered a lot of her time helping at the church and on the church council.

Carol enjoyed being busy and working on and off the farm.  She was an Avon lady going door to door, did babysitting and cleaning for the neighbors and other odd jobs.  In 1976, she started working at the Oxbow Country Club.  Carol retired in 2000.

Carol loved planting flowers, gardening, and canning. The kids helped her with the huge garden, apple orchard, gooseberries, and chokecherries.  She enjoyed cooking and baking to share with everyone. She was known for her famous “flatbread.”  Some neighbors were known to sneak in during the night and help themselves to it!

She enjoyed sewing and made many mother/daughter-matching dresses.  She was always looking for new craft projects to make for her family.  The family spent a lot of them at Minnesota resorts with friends and went on many memorable family vacations, usually by car or RV.  Carol & Anders enjoyed traveling to many places in later years.

They moved to her home farm in Minnesota in late 1986. She loved hosting family gatherings. They built their dream house and enjoyed many years sitting on the porch and enjoying the view of the Red River. In 2015, they moved to Farmstead Estates Moorhead, MN.  After Anders passed away in 2017, Carol lived briefly at Eventide & Good Samaritan. In 2021, she moved to Lilac Homes in Dilworth MN.

Carol is survived by her children, Lynette Jacobson, Fargo ND; Lori (Michael) Vogeler, Galchutt ND; Jon (Kristi) Thiseth, Fargo ND; grandchildren, Jerret  Thiseth, Moorhead MN; James (Taylor) Jacobson, West Fargo ND; Jennilyn Jacobson, Fargo ND; Jessica (Adam Spurrier, fiancée) Vogeler, Rochester, MN; Mason Vogeler, Galchutt ND; Ethan Thiseth, Fargo ND; great grandchildren, Gabriel and Jasmine Jacobson, Wesley and Owen Hazer-Thiseth, Elliana Jacobson and Martin Fultz (Thiseth).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlot and Jennie Ness; husband, Anders; children, twins Chad and Cherie; sisters Jacqueline “Jackie” Kragerud, Lavaine Ness; brother-in-law, Orlyn Kragerud; step-mother, Agnes Ness; and step-brother, Joel Ness.
