Carol Schmidt

Carol Schmidt, 93, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born September 28, 1932, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Bill “Willie” and Ethel Woodhouse. She married Kenneth Brude on June 1, 1952, in Dell Rapids, SD. They divorced in 1982. She later married Cletus “Skipper” Schmidt in Madison, SD, on September 17, 1984, and remained happily married until his passing in 1994.

She is survived by her three children: Susan (Chuck) McGuire of Fargo, ND, Paula (Chris [deceased]) Mullen of Kasson, MN, and Thomas (Suzanne) Brude of Maplewood, MN; six grandchildren: Molly McGuire, Megan McGuire, Joshua Mullen, Zachary Mullen, Sydney Brude and Colin Brude; and three great-grandchildren: Berit, Austin and Fennec.

In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter in memory of Carol’s love for her cats. Per Carol’s wishes, no funeral is planned. Interment will take place at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Madison, SD, beside her beloved Cletus.
