Carol Brend Obituary

Carol Lorraine Brend, 83, Fargo, N.D., went to heaven on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at her home under the care of Ethos Hospice with her husband, children and a niece at her side.

Carol Lorraine Ramstad sprang into this world on October 13, 1940, the second child born to Lyle Edward Ramstad and Evelyn “Lorraine” Ramstad of Hunter, N.D.  Her sister, Connie, preceded her birthdate by a year and she was subsequently joined by brothers, Dennis, Darrell and Daylen.

Carol was raised on a small farm near Hunter, attended and graduated from Hunter High School.

She married and was blessed with three children, Joel Bennett, Todd Bennett and Rochelle Bennett Berlin. Carol and her husband divorced.

Carol met a charming, blond, Norwegian, GTO driving gentleman from Portland, N.D. They hit it off immediately, subsequently married and maintained their home in south Fargo.

Carol was a bookkeeper for various businesses and was fastidious with maintaining her financial records and retaining a voluminous amount of receipts.

Carol was a caregiver. She lovingly visited and cared for her mom, Lorraine, for the six years.  Lorraine resided at the Good Samaritan Center in Arthur, N.D.  Carol made sure that her mom’s clothes were clean, pressed and organized as Lorraine directed. Carol always made sure Lorraine’s favorite candies were bedside.

Carol’s best friends were her sister, Connie Wenaas, and her mom, Lorraine. They were meticulous about the clothes they wore and their appearance. AND SHOPPING! Lorraine, Connie and Carol went shopping at West Acres every Saturday. They shopped, dined and visited all day long. Carol and Connie were loving and generous aunts, assuring the nieces were always smartly dressed and received all the Dayton’s Christmas bears.

By far, Carol’s favorite role in life was being Grandmother to Taylor Feist, Hunter Berlin, Amanda White and Malarie Griffeths-Bennett. She loved her grandchildren, they loved her  considering her to be their best friend. She is already missed!

Carol is survived by her husband, Myron, her sons, Joel Bennett, Portland, Oregon, Todd Bennett, Fargo, daughter, Rochelle Bennett Berlin, Fargo, her grandchildren, Taylor Feist, Hunter Berlin, Amanda White and Malarie Griffeths-Bennett, her brother, Daylen, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Connie, brother-in-law, Donnie Wenaas, brothers, Dennis and Darrell, grandnephew John W. Petersen.
