Bonnie Jane McIntyre, 70, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Sanford Hospice House after a 34 year battle with ovarian cancer and its complications.
Bonita Jane Stennes was born on January 25, 1955, to Gordon and Anne Marie Stennes. She was born again at a young age when a traveling evangelist came to Zion Lutheran Church and she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Bonnie started her schooling at Harwood's two-room country school and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1973. She started her college years as a vet tech student in Nebraska, but her true love was teaching. She received her teaching degree from NDSU and went to Norway where she eventually taught full time at an oil school, teaching English.
On a visit home during her summer vacation, Bonnie attended a Bible study at The Swinging Door Coffee House, where she fell in love with family friend Tim McIntyre. Her grandmother had said she should marry Tim many years prior. At the conclusion of her teaching Tim joined her in Norway where they eloped on June 17, 1985. In April of the following year her daughter Annika was born. Bonnie’s ovarian cancer diagnosis came five years later which made her extremely thankful to be a mother.
Bonnie has always stood faithfully beside Tim in ministry, making cookies and prayerfully supporting him during The Swinging Door, Cornerstone Coffee House, and The Open Door ministries.
Bonnie’s greatest joys were her grandchildren and helping them through their homeschooling education while living next to them on the McIntyre family farm. She also found great joy in teaching and attending Sunday school until she was no longer able.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tim McIntyre and her daughter Annika (Joel) Ellingson and her grandchildren Greta, Graham, Johan, and Ingrid. She is also survived by siblings Karen (Bob) Zenger, Tom (Karen) Stennes, and Lisa Davis and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Malcom Davis
