Binks Nelson Obituary

Robert Adrian (Binks) Nelson, 83, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024. He was born on May 3, 1941, in Williston, ND, the son of Doris and Adrian Nelson.

Binks worked at North Dakota State University for years where he loved interacting with students and cheering on NDSU sports. He was known for always putting a smile on everyone's faces and sharing his humor during any interaction. He started every day fresh, with a positive disposition, and made countless people happy. He was known for always striking up conversations with others, where you would assume they were best friends. He was a proud father and grandfather, who always enjoyed being with his family.

While growing up, Binks was an impressive athlete. Responsible for multiple state championship titles in wrestling for Williston High School, in 1958 and 1959. He was proud to be part of the team that pioneered wrestling for Williston, as it hadn't existed prior. He then went on to wrestle at Minot State University before entering the Air Force in 1960 to serve his country.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Vicky Nelson of Fargo; his children, Kyla (Rob) LeConti, Bob (Kristi) Nelson, and Sam (Shannon) Nelson. Five grandchildren; Ashley, Juliana, Kelli, Ryan, and McKenzie, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his 7 siblings; DeeAnn Carter, Dick Nelson, Bette Jerde, Tom Nelson, Mavis Routledge, Mike Nelson, and Pat Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for 2025 per his request, as he wants everyone to have fun and enjoy beautiful weather during the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, Binks would like you to donate to the charity of your choice.
