Billy Battagler

   Billy Battagler, 96, of Hunter, ND, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Bethany on University in Fargo.

   Billy I. Battagler was born in Orrick, Missouri to Homer and Jessie (Bailey) Battagler on August 22, 1929. He moved with his family to Hunter, ND in 1946 to help his dad farm. 

   He married Dalene (Tootie) Rasch June 19, 1948 in Moorhead, Mn. During the early years of marriage he worked at the Hunter elevator and raised chickens along with farming with his dad. Later he started a wrecking yard and graduated into trailer manufacturing. He retired in 1991, but helped Tootie in the ceramic shop until she passed in May of 2004, after 56 years of marriage.

   Billy lived with his daughter, Donna for the last few years of his life and entered Bethany on University on April 21, 2026 and passed on June 23, 2026.

   He is survived by his son, Jerry of Hunter, ND, daughter, Darla (Kim) Burich of Sturgis, SD, daughter, Donna Kiehl of West Fargo, ND;  son in law, Dan Anagnost of Morris, Mn; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter Susan Anagnost, daughter in law Beverly Battagler, son in law Duane Kiehl, his parents, a sister Helene Paxton and nephew Carl Girtch.

   A private family graveside service will be held in the Hunter Cemetery, Hunter, ND.
